Custom Straight F Bass Trombone “Brassark”

Here’s a custom straight F bass trombone that a friend built for me on a crazy idea. I was looking for an instrument I could use for early repertoire when not playing alongside trombonists using period instruments—a modern-sized bass trombone in F that still captures some of the authenticity. I’ve always been fond of the sound of an F bass trombone and really enjoy playing this one.

This one features a 9.25″ bell and a .547″/.562″ dual bore long slide. I drew inspiration from the Hainlein sackbut for the design layout and included a tuning slide for added playability.

Maybe someday I’ll bring these to market
