This is a truly one of a kind instrument, custom built for the late Jim Self by Larry Minick. Larry’s design is both ingenious and highly practical, combining excellent mechanical function with thoughtful ergonomics to create a remarkably dexterous super bass trombone. The instrument features a red brass bell, an F attachment operated by the thumb, three valves operated by the left hand, and a full seven position handslide. It is as imaginative as it is playable, and I only wish Dr. Seuss could have seen it.
