Frank Holton Model 169 Bass Trombone

Price: $4100

This is one of the most well regarded and in demand single valve bass trombones ever made. The 169 was designed as a copy of Ed Kleinhammer’s Bach New York 50B and some argue that its even better than a Bach New York. Released in the early 1960s, this model also featured an option plug in “birds nest” dependent 2nd rotary valve, one of the first production double valved bass trombones. This one doesn’t have that birds nest option but is it in very good condition and it makes a remarkable sound. Being a single valved bass that plays well, many 169’s have been modified over the years and its rare to find one with all the original parts and matching slide. $4100 with case.
