This is a phenomenal playing Shires symphonic tenor, particularly resonant 1G bell flare with an original OE Thayer/Shires axial valve from early Shires production, B tuning slide and a TB47 slide with a 2.5 leadpipe. The thayer valve has excellent compression and is stamped OE Thayer on the casing, before Shires was making its thayer valves in house, these original OE Thayer valves were offered. Overall in very nice shape, a small ding in the F tubing coming out of the valve casing. The bell is in great shape and really projects well. Slide is excellent with smooth action and a nice open blowing feel. A top playing Shires!
