Vincent Bach New York “Mt Vernon” Gold Brass Model 36

Price: sale pending

This trombone has quite a unique story and you can read all about it on the original shop cards. Completed in 1953 at the New York factory, it originally had a yellow brass bell. In 1955 just as the factory had moved to Mt Vernon, a new 8″ gold brass bell was replaced on this instrument. An additional nickel slide was made (unfortunately lost to this set) and the original slide was “repaired” which I interpret as being made into a lightweight brass slide at the factory. Interestingly, you’ll see that all parts: bell and inner/outer slide all have matching serial numbers! It’s a phenomenal player, this gold bell is gloriously resonant and the slide feels amazing in the hand. It was relacquered at some point in its life and the original leadpipe was pulled to press fit, I believe this is the original pipe included with the instrument. The original Bach coffin case is included. A really nice piece of playable trombone history!
